Of all the personal development courses I’ve ever run, the one that is closest to my heart is Live it Now because it’s an opportunity for my team and I to make a contribution to our community.
On the weekend of 23 July we’re going to be running an extra-special Live it Now, as we are participating in Bear Cottage’s ‘Superhero Week’ to raise money to help them keep their doors open and continue providing vital support, respite, and end-of-life care for children with terminal illnesses and their families.
I can only imagine how heartbreaking and how challenging dealing with the loss of a child would be for the whole family. When these families are told that their child’s life will be cut short, their normal everyday existence takes on a monumental change. As they embark on such a terrible journey, there are limited options available to help them get through each day.
Having Bear Cottage available to them for care and support enables them to focus on the important things such as spending quality time together and making every moment count.
Superhero Week is Bear Cottage’s major annual fundraiser, and runs from July 24 to 30.
Bear Cottage has superheroes present every day. From terminally-ill kids, to families who stay strong to care for them, to the nurses and volunteers who give their time to help.
Those Superheros are the inspiration behind the event, developed to be both a fun way to raise public awareness of Bear Cottage as well as raise vital funding for continued services.
A small amount can make a huge difference! Just $50 can fund a one hour hydrotherapy session for a child, $100 can stock the Bear Cottage freezer full of ice cream for a month, and $200 can enable a parent to have their child’s fingerprints/footprints or a painting made into a piece of jewellery or framed artwork to keep forever. Incredible!!
Anyone who knows me knows I love NLP courses, having fun, and causing trouble!
Live it Now Superheroes is going to be a huge weekend of fun and mischief making for everyone, as well as a transformational weekend for each and every participant.
My inbox has been lighting up with ideas from my team, they’re really running wild with this one, organising costumes and finding more and more ways to help support both the participants and Bear Cottage. At last count, we have three cars of crew driving up from Melbourne to get involved!
The Bear Cottage team have a goal of raising $120,000 during Superhero Week, and I would love it if our community could give them a big boost towards getting there.
If you can’t make it to Live it Now Superheroes, there are still a number of ways you can help raise vital funding.
‘A superhero is more than someone who has superpowers. A superhero is someone who shows great strength, determination and bravery – even when times are tough. At Bear Cottage, we see superheroes each and every day from our nurses and volunteers, to our families and of course, our courageous patients. But sometimes, even superheroes need a helping hand, which is why we are asking you to get involved in Superhero Week this July.
‘We are asking you to become a Superhero for a day, a week or even a year! By supporting Superhero Week and raising funds for Bear Cottage, you will be enabling us to continue providing support, respite and end-of-life care for our beautiful kids’ added Bear Cottage Community Relations Manager Bronwen Simmons.
I can’t wait for July 23, it’s going to be the biggest Live it Now we have ever run, I have more cutting edge information I’m going to share, and we’re all going to have an incredible time dressing up as superheroes together.
See you there!
