When you launch a business you will work harder than you ever did in the 9-5 world, so it’s important not to underestimate the importance of recharging if you want your business to really grow.
Business works in 90-day cycles. Like farming, you reap, then sew, reap then sew. This is why it is so important to step away from your business and recharge your batteries once a quarter. You will come back with more energy, more ideas, and a renewed enthusiasm for the next 90-day cycle!
On my wall calendar at home I have each recharge scheduled. As I say at Live it Now, when it’s scheduled, it’s done! Booking in your recharge has two added benefits. One, it gives you something to look forward to during those late nights or early mornings. Two, you know you have to work hard to complete your commitments before you go away.
When I start working with a client, one of the first things we look at is their down time. Some people can’t afford to go and spend a week in the Caribbean, so we book in something that suits their budget. One of the best ways to recharge is to get back to nature, so even a day of bush walking is a perfect way to unplug and unwind.
If you listen, your business will tell you exactly what it needs. Often we can’t hear what the business is saying because we’re so busy working in it that the voice is drowned up by a need to do.
The reality is, when you step outside of your business, you create room for both of you to grow.
Often I’ll go away on a recharge and my businesses perform better! I then come back bursting with energy and ideas, ready to attack the next 90-day cycle.
The first time you step away, it’s not easy. It can be like leaving your child with a babysitter for the first time. What if something happens? What if it needs me? Trust the process, the problems will still be there when you get back, but you will have new ways of seeing things.
I’m getting ready to go on my next recharge on 7 March, and this time, I’ve decided to take a select group of people with me! I’ll be showing these people my exact process; my daily routine, what I eat, what I learn, what I do for fun. Of course, we’ll be getting up to a bit of mischief as well…
My mum Denise is coming this time as well, and I’ll also be bringing in some of my surrounding influences to give presentations.
The location is incredible, it’s on the NSW far north coast, where the rugged mountains meet the Pacific Ocean. A shuttle will pick you up from Gold Coast airport on the 7th, and drop you back on the 11th.
Other than that, I’m not giving anything away!
This is an opportunity for you to take a leap of faith and reward yourself for all your hard work this year.
